For the love of trees

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it?
It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.

Dearest Pomonians;

Use your creative voice and find your future. Ask yourself this, how can you make the world with a little bit more of you in it?
What creative endeavours have you been putting of? What are you afraid of?

Pick up your paint brush.
Put pencil to paper.
Thread your needled.
Take that picture.
Write a letter that turns into a poem.
Look at you, you are creating!

Our greatest accomplishments are the ones fueled by channeling the whispers and nudges of inspiration and muse.  What we do, our practice and passion, finds our purpose in life. What a beautiful journey we are all on, when we give ourselves the space and the chance to make it happen. Let go to be inspired to create a little piece of you in something else.

Making progress is getting started

The secret of making progress is to get started. The secret to starting is to divide your complex, overwhelming task into small, manageable tasks, and then start the first.

Dearest Pomonians;

Where you stumble and fall, there you will find gold.
- Joseph Campbell

I am here to tell you to just do it.
Whatever makes your heart sing, whatever makes your soul smile.
Just do it.
It's like breathing, you already have the ability in you. You know how to without learning how to, because it's innate. Creating is just like breathing.
You have the desire, ignite the passion with action.
If you need confidence, manifest the feeling and sensations you associate with the act of creating and what the finished something means to you because this is your skin of confidence. It is your cloak, your shield. Your protection.
Your passion is your confidence.
Your passion is love.
Complete.
You are whole with passion, confidence and creativity.
Just do it, create a piece of you.
You are art. Just do it!
~a.

Work In Progress...

This is my first experience with a wood canvas, 4 ft x 4 ft. Technically thus far, this is the largest piece I have created by hand. I'm using an oil based paint pen. It's on display at Wet Rock Studios in Tobermory, Ontario as I open my studio to the public, I'm excited to share this with you while I create. It will hopefully be finished in the coming days.

Stay tuned, art is community!

Love of friends

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

The Way of the Wizard

In Merlin's view, the whole world was a way for him to talk to himself. "If you ever forget anything," he advised Arthur, "the forest will remind you."
"I've forgotten lots of things the forest didn't remind me about," the boy protested.
"Not true," replied Merlin. "The only thing you can forget is yourself, and it can be found under every tree."
(Deepak Chopra, The Way of the Wizard, pg34)

Carving an Artist: Speaking and Teaching

Carving an Artist: Speaking and Teaching
Andrea Currie, Fine Artist, Instructor

I assist artists in discovering the unique and integral components of their artistic practice while inspiring the process by providing structure and example.

Everyone’s story is unique. The perspective for how we see the world – our loves, influences and pathways – create the foundation of our practices. Carving an Artist is a guide and philosophy for art novices and professionals to organize their art and document their journey into a complete body of work for portfolio and exhibit purposes.

My process and structure was applied to an exhibit I produced at the Dufferin County Museum & Archives in September 2013, and the exhibit received an exhibition assistance grant from the Ontario Arts Council in 2014.

Outline
I offer ½ day, full day or multi-day workshops with interactive facilitation and professional expertise. Speaking and teaching fee is determined by classroom size, number of classes and location.

Even I had to bring these pics out. Too real, too funny.
From under year one to almost sixteen, this is one collage to remind all of us to celebrate impermanence.

Smile at your own reflection

The divine is not something high above us. It is in heaven, it is in earth, it is inside us.

Visiting MOMA a few years ago, I had the honour of a scream.
Thank you Edvard, you showed me the simplicity in a complex emotion
and the vulnerability to believe it.

Looking in

They will always tell you that you can't do what you want to do,
but you can do what you want to do.
You just have to believe in yourself.
The system is to bring you down,
but you can rise up.
